Ethereum Classic (ETC) Mining

With Ethereum moving to PoS “soon” I wanted to investigate into other proof of work coins.

The first coin that came to mind was Ethereum Classic as I could use the same overclocks and expect the same power draw as ETH.

The difference between Ethash and Etchash is mainly DAG size. 4GB cards are still able to mine ETC, while ETH needs at least 6GB cards as of this writing.

By mining Ethereum Classic instead of a different alt coin, such as Ravencoin is — I get to use the same mining software that I had always been using. T-rex for my Nvidia 30 series cards. and Team Red Miner for my AMD Cards.

When picking an Ethereum Classic mining pool, I wanted to pick a smaller pool due to the fact that as of this writing ethermine.org had over 43% of the network hashrate. Now they are a massive ETH mining pool, as well as ETC so they are not likely to attack the network, but it is always a concern and a risk to decentralization.

ethermine.org showing over 43% network hashrate

The ETC mining pool that I decided to go with is called etcpool.us, they are a small ETC only pool located in the USA which was perfect for me due to the very very low ping.

Please consider joining small pools such as etcpool.us in order to increase the decentralization of the network!

The website I use to find small pools is https://miningpoolstats.stream/ethereumclassic

Cheers and Happy Mining!
